I came across this quote by William Faulkner the other day
"The aim of every artist is to arrest motion, which is life, by artificial means and hold it fixed so that a hundred years later, when a stranger looks at it, it moves again since it is life"
and it has got me thinking.
An old friend just called and reminded me that 25 years have passed
since my children and I used to go to the dropzone for weekends of skydiving. Well I'm not skydiving any more and my children have grown up and now there are grand-daughters! Those were special times accessed only by memories and photographs.
As I approach my 50th birthday I remember fondly the family members that have passed away or moved on and the times we have shared. I am also grateful for the new family and friends that are in my life right now. I wish I could stop time. I guess that is why I photograph so much.
