I began my day a little earlier than usual yesterday in order to get to the Parliament Buildings for a 7am breakfast meeting with Equal Voice, Members of Parliament and Business Executives. Equal Voice is an organization whose mission is simply to get more women elected across all party platforms so that the House of Commons is more representative of the population. It was a panel discussion regarding Optimal Performance and balancing work and life in the world of business and politics. The moderator was Nazanin Afshin-Jan, a human rights activist, former beauty queen and wife of Minister of Defence Peter MacKay. We heard from Justin Trudeau, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Julie Jacobson, wife of US Ambasador, and Deputy Leader of the NDP: Libby Davies all of whom had a different perspective on work/life balance issues.
Following the meeting I walked over to the National Art Centre where Media were invited to attend a rehearsal of the NAC Orchestra performing "Take the Dog Sled", by Canadian compser Alexina Louie and featured Canadian throat singers, Evie Mark and Akinisie Sivuarapik. Since I had grown up in the North, I always have a keen interest in all things Northern.
Here are some of my most interesting photos from the day.
