Yesterday after having dropped off my puppy to be groomed I stopped in at a Cafe in Manotick and decided to relax with a cup of tea and for something a little sweet, I asked for a date square.

The whole thing cost over $6 which I thought to be on the pricey side. Oh well, it is a nice atmosphere for a cup of tea with tons of magazines and newspapers lying around for customers to enjoy.

My cup of tea and date was served to me a short while later. I was impressed with the way it was presented. You could tell that the Cafe owner put some thought into presenting something memorable! The date square was served on a nice plate with a little bit of cut fruit on the side and then chocolate icing was drizzled all over the date square and the plate.&nbsp...

Each day we spend here I understand more and more why the famous impressionist painters all either came from here or painted this place. Yesterday, we drove up approximately a mountainside road called Les Cretes. The view from the top (420 metres /1300 feet) was stunning. We could see the port of Cassis as well as the various Calanques carved into the landscape. After that drive we visited the town of Cassis and found ourselves a lovely little restaurant called Romano's with impeccable food and service. It was not cheap though. After, we went on a boat tour of the Calanques. Simply beautiful and lovely for hikers and swimmers. Apparently one has to hike for about 45 minutes from town to find this out of the way swimming resort.

<img src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/parade/users/d...
